The senior correspondent , producer at Arise TV; Mr Oba Adeoye has said that the communication industry is not driven by one’s certificate. He made this statement during the 2023 edition of the MACSA symposium, which took place on the 9th of May 2023 at the Nursing department auditorium of McPherson University, seriki sotayo,Ogun state.

He made this statement due to the low reactions from the communication students present at the symposium when asked how many real life journalists , Public relations personels and Advertising professionals they were familiar with. After receiving little to no response, Mr Adeoye stressed that communication students should start engaging in the industry, and not to wait until graduation.

Mr Adeoye advised the students in the presence of the Head of department of Mass Communication, and several other communication lecturers ; to start building portfolios from their undergraduate levels and that “the communication industry is not driven by your certificate. “

Mr Oba Adeoye is an award winning Nigerian journalist. He is experienced in print media , new media and broadcast journalism. He was invited by the school management to give his two cents on the topic of “Maintaining Professionalism and Excellence In The Face Of Communication Gate Crashers”. His lecture left the students with much to think about and the ambition to take the communication industry by storm.
